The place
Tipu's Drop is a historic cliff point atop Nandi Hills. Perched at an altitude of about 600 metres, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and distant hills.
Steeped in legend, it is named after Tipu Sultan, the 18th-century ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore, and is believed to have been used as a place of execution — a haunting note in its past.
Today it is a destination for walkers and photographers who come for the views and the mountain air. Sunrise and sunset from this spot are particularly captivating, and the cliff serves as a serene viewpoint over the lush greenery and rugged terrain of the Deccan plateau.
